Australian Embassy Supports Construction of Kindergarten in Paklay District, Xayaboury Province


Minister of Public Security, Mr Thongbanh Sengaphone; Xayaboury Governor, Dr Liane Thikeo; Paklay district Governor, Mr Thongsouk Sayalath and Hoi Lai Noi villagers joined the Australian Ambassador, Dr Michele Forster at a handover ceremony for the first kindergarten supported by the Australian Government to Hoi Lai Noi villagers, Paklay District, Xayaboury Province on Monday 31 August.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, the Australian Ambassador, Dr Michele Forster, said “the Australian Government is very proud to have contributed to the construction of this school, the first kindergarten in Hoi Lai Noi village. This kindergarten school building was supported under a grant of the Direct Aid Program (DAP), of the Australian Embassy in Vientiane. It both demonstrates and enhances the long and outstanding support from the Australian Government for education development in Laos”.

Dr Forster also said that “Australian Government will continue its support for Laos to achieve its human resource and education development objectives, which are vital to the Lao PDR’S overall development.

The Direct Aid Program (DAP) is a small-scale grants program managed by the Australian Embassy in Vientiane. The purpose is to support projects that address basic humanitarian hardship and reduce poverty by directly assisting poor and disadvantaged groups in the areas of community health, schools and education, small-scale infrastructure, rural development and the environment.
